It's officially Autumn! Yes, the season of falling leaves, cooling temperatures and muddy boots is here. It's also the time when our dogs are guaranteed to get their paws a little muddy...especially with the current weather we're having. But don't worry, we've got the perfect bathroom addition for you so your dogs will scrub up good as new (and keep your sofas nice and clean too)...
Introducing Groomers - leading suppliers of all things, you guessed it, grooming! This fantastic online business sells equipment to qualified groomers as well as owners, so they can obtain professional expertise in their own home. They stock a wide variety of affordable quality grooming supplies from all over the world including their very own branded goods.
The business started out in the 1990s with the aim of reducing dry, itchy skin and hair loss in dogs. This led to the development of their very first product - Evening Primrose Oil Shampoo, which we were sent to try along with the complementary conditioner...
The Evening Primrose Oil range is designed to help restore coats and replenish skin as well as improve shine on dull-looking fur. Both products intensively moisturise the coat and support healthy hair growth making them perfect for dogs with thick and curly fur.
The formulas are made with 1% pure, cold-pressed evening primrose oil which contains high levels of fatty acids. These are known for having beneficial effects on allergy conditions which means the range is great for dogs with sensitive skin too. Wilbur suffers from this so we were keen to try the products out and see how much they helped...
Use of the shampoo and conditioner is the same as any other, however, there are some additional things you can do to really see the benefits of the products. Just as you would with your own hair, start by rinsing the fur. Pour a small amount of the shampoo on to your palm, rub into the fur and work into a lather...
For best results, massage into the coat for a couple of minutes before rinsing off - this allows optimum absorption of the essential oils. For really mucky pups, rinse and repeat before moving on to the conditioner.
Now this is not a product you regularly see on the market for dogs but it's a great addition to your bathroom cupboard. Think about it, if we use it on our own hair then why wouldn't we use it on our dogs' fur too? This particular one is deep conditioning leaving the fur feeling silky and smooth as well as smelling fragrant.
Again, pour a small dollop into the palm of your hand and apply to the coat. As with the shampoo, massage into the fur for a few minutes before washing off...
Make sure to rinse it all off thoroughly before drying the fur to avoid ingestion. Don't worry about losing any of its beneficial properties as the conditioner is designed to deposit a trace amount of evening primrose oil on the coat after rinsing.
Now the final step, allow your dog to commence post-bath craziness!
Once our pups were 100% convinced that they were completely dry, we were finally able to see the effects of the products. The shampoo and conditioner left their fur feeling soft and smooth as well as smelling lovely and floral. The products also really brought out the shine in Wilbur and Paisley's coats, leaving Wilbur's fur looking whiter than ever and helping to soothe his sensitive skin.
We'd thoroughly recommend the Evening Primrose Oil range, especially for dogs with sensitivities. We found that the products really helped ease Wilbur's allergies and stopped him feeling so itchy. In addition, they're great for bringing the shine back to your dog's fur as well as for use on just general mucky pups!
Thank you for taking the time to read our blog all about Groomers. Whether you're a professional groomer, training to become one or are just looking for some tips at home, we hope it helped!
With thanks to Groomers for inviting us to review their pawsome products. We really enjoyed testing them out...
(Well, Paisley did anyway!)
We'll be back soon with another blog all about our dog-friendly trip to the Cotswolds!
Until then...
Love, nose licks and waggy tails,
